Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21 in 1983) is a well-known American actress. She is most famously known for her role was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio, dropped out high school, and relocating to Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite financial struggles she managed to land her first major performance in the video online series Rachel's Room playing the lead character. In 2002, she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal character for two seasons and also won the Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace has worked together with Tom Welling on The Fog in the year 2005, wanted to move into the world of film. The role she played was Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) in Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised the role for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace performed the role of Shannon again in Lost's finale and in two additional episodes. In 2013, she appeared in Season 6 of Californication. She plays Faith as a groupie, and also a muse to the stars that catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The first time she appeared in films of her father when he was an adolescent. Together with her brother she was also as a character in Donnie Darko (2000). Then she appeared on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics in both of her roles as a lead character in Secretary (2002), an erotic romance drama drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). The actress was also nominated for The Golden Globe Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child earned her nomination in an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Following that, she starred in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller) and musicians in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and her role as the Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal made her debut as a director and writer in 2021 with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
